Esoteric interpretation of name-Ing the ancient Germanic earth god. His cult was developed in the North Sea regions. He is the male consort of the earth mother, Nerthus. The North Sea peoples were named after him-Ingvaeones.
Freyr was also known as Yngvi or Yngvi-Freyr. Freyr appears to have usurped the role of the earlier god, Ing.
